in its upcoming forecast this tuesday the international monetary fund is going to downgrade this year’s economic growth projections for most countries because of the war in ukraine pushing up food and energy prices speaking in washington imf’s managing director christolina giorgeva said last week that while most countries will still see positive growth earlier projections will be downgraded for 143 countries these countries represent 86 percent of global production george ava noted that inflation right now in developed countries is the highest it’s been in 40 years and will likely last longer than initially forecast without help she said some countries could face hunger poverty and social unrest
