Evacuation ARE UNDER WAY AND Florida WHERE OFFICIALS SAY A WASTE WATER COLLAPSE AT ANY MOMENT. THE MANATEE COUNTY POND HOLDS WASTEWATER FROM A LOCAL PHOSPHATE PLANT AND IF THE RESERVOIR GIVES WAY, IT COULD RELEASE ROUGHLY 600 MILLION GALLONS OF ACIDIC, RADIOACTIVE WASTE IN SURROUNDING NEIGHBORHOODS. GOVERNOR RON DESANTIS HAS ISSUED A STATE OF EMERGENCY FOR THE COUNTY LOCATED JUST SOUTH OF TAMPA WITH CREWS WORKING AROUND THE CLOCK TO PREVENT A COLLAPSE.

SOME OF THE WATER HAS BEEN DRAINED INTO TAMPA BAY BUT OFFICIALS WARN THAT IT SEEMED TO GET WORSE SATURDAY MORNING. A LEAK IN THE CONTAINMENT WALL HAS BEEN ONGOING AT THE FACILITY OVER THE PAST WEEK, AS WE ALL KNOW.

PUBLIC WORKS WORKED WITH THE ATTEMPT TO FIX THE LEAK BUT THE ATTEMPTS WERE UNSUCCESSFUL. AT APPROXIMATELY 10:30 ON APRIL 3, ON-SITE ENGINEERS DEEMED THE SITUATION TO BE ESCALATING AND ALL COMMAND STAFF AND THE RESIDENTS WERE ISSUED AN Evacuation NOTICE. THE PORTION OF THE CONTAINMENT WALL SHIFTED.
